   
FC Somers is part of US Youth
Soccer. FC Somers currently has approximately 300 registered youth
soccer players. Across the Nation there are 3.2 million youth players
registered under US
Youth Soccer. US Youth Soccer is the largest youth soccer
organization in the nation. US Youth Soccer is broken down into
regions. Regions are divided into State Associations. State
Associations are divided into leagues. FC Somers is a member club of
East Hudson Youth Soccer.
East Hudson is a member league within
Eastern New York Soccer.
As part of US Youth Soccer our coach's are
required to be educated and trained under the US Soccer Federation and US
Youth Soccer guidelines. The minimum level of training acceptable
within FC Somers is the
National Youth License or the
National D License. Many of our Coach's are also members of the
Positive Coaching
Alliance. The Positive Coaching Alliance is an organization that
educates coaches on how to motivate, build confidence, teach individual goal
setting, and the importance of winning and loosing.
Our club philosophy is to teach the game of
soccer while keeping it fun. FC Somers wants to keep children playing soccer
through high school and higher education.
As a travel soccer program, FC Somers is required to have yearly tryouts.
This is a Somers Parks and Recreation requirement that effects all Somers
travel sports programs. Every year FC Somers will hold tryouts and
establish if possible two travel teams per age group per gender.
