As part of US Youth Soccer our coach's are required to be educated and trained under the US Soccer Federation and US Youth Soccer guidelines.  The minimum level of training acceptable within FC Somers is the National Youth License or the National D License.  Many of our Coach's are also members of the Positive Coaching Alliance. The Positive Coaching Alliance is an organization that educates coaches on how to motivate, build confidence, teach individual goal setting, and the importance of winning and loosing.

Our club philosophy is to teach the game of soccer while keeping it fun. FC Somers wants to keep children playing soccer through high school and higher education.

As a travel soccer program, FC Somers is required to have yearly tryouts.  This is a Somers Parks and Recreation requirement that effects all Somers travel sports programs.  Every year FC Somers will hold tryouts and establish if possible two travel teams per age group per gender.
