    
FC Somers Question and Answers:
1) When does FC Somers play it's games?
FC Somers plays it's games on Sunday's. Game times are scheduled between
12:00p.m. and 5:00p.m..
2) How far do you travel?
The Westchester Youth Soccer League area of travel is from New York City and
throughout Westchester County. Typically
there are ten games per season with five being home and five being away.
3) How many times per week does each team practice?
Most of our teams have two practice sessions per week.
4) How long is your season?
There are two league soccer seasons the fall and the spring. Each season
runs between eight to ten weeks.
5) Is FC Somers a year round commitment?
No. However some of our teams do practice over the winter and do indoor
tournaments. For those that want a year round soccer commitment the
opportunity is there. For those that do not, that is also ok.
Children should play all the sports they want and do deserve a break.
6) What are the costs?
There is a yearly registration fee that covers both fall and spring season,
insurance, uniform, and referee fee's. Each team may decide to purchase additional equipment or have
soccer related expenses that the team decides to split within the team.
No child is ever turned away due to financial hardship.
7) Do you have tryouts?
Yes, all Somers travel programs are required to hold yearly tryouts.
Tryout information is published both on the FC Somers website and on paper
within the Somers Schools. As a youth sport organization we try to
accommodate every child. There are times when children will be asked to
play on different teams or asked to play with other soccer programs in
town.
8) What are the age groups in FC Somers?
Travel soccer begins at the U8 level. U8 means under eight years old.
The age group year runs from 8/1 to 7/31. There are
U8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16, and 19 age brackets offered for both boys and girls.
9) Will my child play in every game?
Yes. There are rules in the league that require all players in
developmental age groups U8-U11 to play half of each league game. At U12
and above play time for division 1 is managed by the coach. Division 2, 3,
4 are still required to have a half the game mandate.
10) Is FC Somers part of AYSO?
No. While many of our volunteers continue to offer services to the
AYSO organization, FC Somers is not part of AYSO. FC Somers is part
of US Youth Soccer. US Youth Soccer is also a national organization.
US Youth Soccer is the largest youth soccer organization in the Nation. FC
Somers encourages the support and participation of our players and parents in
AYSO.
